Welcome to the home of Ryle Speech and Debate!
The word forensics might conjure up thoughts of CSI and Law and Order. Although coached by a biology teacher, the field of forensics (speech and debate) is something entirely different. Speech and debate is like academic track and field. Members compete in a variety of events which earn points for team awards. Events range from prepared to off-the-cuff, dramatic to informational. There's something for everyone in the world of speech! Famous speech alumni include Josh Gad, Chris Colfer (Kurt on Glee), Oprah Winfrey, Renee Zellweger, and Jane Pauley. Perhaps one day a Ryle graduate will be added to the list! The Ryle Speech and Debate Team proudly participates in four of the five leagues available in Kentucky: Kentucky High School Speech League (KHSSL), National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA), Catholic Forensic League (CFL), and Wilson Wyatt Debate League (WWDL). Our season runs October - March. |
